Personal Electronics

Shredding personal electronics, such as headphones, is one of the most secure and cost-effective ways to dispose of all kinds of end-of-life solid-state drives, computer hard drives, media tapes, printed circuit boards (PCBs), tablets, smartphones, motherboards, and silicon chips. Shredding services from Shred Connect are ideal for businesses and companies with large data centers or a stockpile of obsolete electronics, old computer hard drives, and dated media tapes because it is efficient, fast, and cost-effective.

A popular personal electronics product became obsolete when they were bought by another company. This made branding obsolete, and the company was contractually obligated to discontinue the sale of its products by a certain date and destroy any remaining inventory.

Depending on the type and amount of personal electronics that require shredding, many businesses and companies choose onsite hard drive and electronic device shredding providers. When you choose Shred Connect, your personnel or staff can witness the entire end-to-end process in order to maintain the highest level of security while eliminating security issues and chain of custody concerns.

Shred Connect knows and understands the risks associated with destroying personal electronics and has the proven tools, expertise, and experience for destroying devices and equipment containing electronic circuitry.

We have several years of experience in the recycling and destruction of personal electronics and have developed an expertise and reputation in the disassembly and destruction by shredding as well as the environmentally compliant and responsible recycling of all kinds of devices containing electronic circuits.

We provide these reliable services to various entities, such as medical equipment manufacturers, gaming companies, military equipment manufacturers, communication equipment manufacturers, and consumer electronics manufacturers.

Shred Connect recommends that you make sure that all personal electronics are scanned and shredded, and you receive a certificate of destruction confirming all data is suitably destroyed.  It is important to choose an electronic data and equipment destruction and shredding company that also ensures the proper disposal of shredded materials and devices in accordance with applicable environmental protocols.

Following proper procedures, all inventory items were pulled from shelves, and warehouse stock was pulled for this job. Incremental shipments were sent to Shred Connect. This particular job required Shred Connect to destroy all products within 24 hours of receipt.

We provide witnessed destruction both in person and vedio. Our whole destruction process includes secure and documented handling points within the destruction process, which constitute an auditable “chain of possession.”

Childrens Clothing

The fashion and clothing industry has long been called one of the world’s most wasteful industries. With many clothing and fashion brands worldwide under scrutiny for the destruction and disposal of their obsolete clothing and unsold items, it is simple to use the fashion and clothing industry as a scapegoat for all our collective effects on the environment. However, Shred Connect knows that this is not true, and to fully understand and appreciate why this process can often be necessary, it is vital to consider the broader picture.

Trends in clothing, whether children or adult clothing, change so quickly that it is hard to keep up. People continue to purchase the latest children’s clothing to stay up to date.

The fashion and clothing industry comprises two main seasons: Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. Also, fashion lines frequently feature two more inter-season collections. These are holiday collections for children and pre-autumn collections.

Note that consumers demand variations in attire for various times of the year. For example, they like to keep cool during the summer months. Fashion houses and clothing brands must constantly think about their next line of releases due to these demands. And that is not all; they must think about what they have to do with the last season’s unsold stock.

A recent backlog of shipping on the West Coast containers became a challenge for one clothing distributor. The customer has all their clothing manufactured overseas. The clothing needed to be at the retail locations in time for the holiday season. By mid-November, it was apparent the clothing would not be offloaded and distributed in time for the holiday season because of supply chain issues and other problems. This is why the destruction process is necessary, and we keep this process as sustainable and green as possible here at Shred Connect.

The customer would now need to store the clothing until they formulated a new distribution agreement. At the same time, they had to consider that the style of clothing could be obsolete for next year’s holiday season. And without a way to securely dispose of unsold goods, the customer could become prone to damage to brand reputation and brand integrity. Another problem is counterfeiting, which affects brands and jobs. And consumers are vulnerable to deception as well, with the proliferation of knockoffs and fake products flooding markets undetected.

After consulting with their customer’s buyer, it was determined that the style would need to be changed. The current inventory was obsolete. To maintain brand integrity and reputation, the importer made the decision to have the clothing destroyed.

At Shred Connect, we are proud to have a zero-tolerance for landfill policy. We also recycle all the shredded clothing items we can. We break children’s clothing products down into separate materials and incinerate any materials that we can’t recycle responsibly and safely under strict controls.

Uniforms

When office closures happen for reasons such as COVID-19, many companies and businesses are left with unwanted furniture, computer equipment, and other supplies, and branded goods. Whether your company has stacks of hard drives and laptops, personal safety gear, or piles of cables, printers, and phone systems, Shred Connect can securely remove your electronics, confidential documents and shred the hard drives and laptops onsite or offsite. We can also remove your equipment and safety gear for transportation back to our safe and secure processing facility.

Shred Connect customer was hired by a large utility customer to clean out a number of office buildings that were being closed. The buildings were closing due to COVID with the decision to have all employees work remotely. The clean-out of the office buildings entailed moving furniture to storage units, selling the office equipment, and destroying proprietary items.

Any branded items, such as uniforms, required destruction as they were personalized with the employee name or contained the company logo. The customer could not risk these items being used by non-employees.

There are many ways in which corporate items, proprietary goods, clothing garments can be repurposed or destroyed. For instance, uniform destruction is possible by cutting up or shredding and using them as cleaning rags or even as noise-reducing insulation.

The destruction project included confidential documents, uniforms, personalized safety gear, and miscellaneous personal belongings, and we wanted to minimize the risk of obsolete branding. We provided shredding services that ensured logos, uniforms, badges, and all other identification information were destroyed.

Firefighter Gear

NFPA 1851 is a common standard for selecting, inspection, maintenance, and retirement of firefighting gear and personal protective clothing, such as coats, pants, gloves, helmets, hoods, and boots. This standard offers detailed guidance and knowledge on how to inspect firefighter gear and police items, such as police uniforms, for obvious issues like tears, rips, and broken fasteners, but also less apparent issues and damage, like loss of radiant reflectivity.

Shred Connect routinely shreds law enforcement and firefighter gear. From fire helmets to boots, every item has a name. Keeping police uniforms and firefighter gear out of the wrong hands is critical. When uniforms and equipment need to be shredded, many cities rely on Shred Connect. The destruction job involves boots, belts, pants, jackets, helmets, goggles, badges, and other personalized safety gear.

With each job, the material is picked up and transported to our facility. Shred Connect provided video evidence and a Certificate of Destruction.

Overall, the convenience and benefits of dealing with the disposal of jackets, helmets, goggles, badges, and uniforms responsibly and safely are significant. Not only does it free up storage space at your premises, but it can also lower harmful effects to the environment, and potentially contributes resources to society. It also leaves you with a clear conscience, protecting your brand and company in the long run.

The Certificate of Destruction is provided to firefighting companies and police departments after the job. Customers and towns choose Shred Connect because one price included the destruction, video, and Certificate of Destruction.

Licensed Merchandise

Social media marketing and influencer marketing have become a staple for many consumer-facing brands that are looking to reach new customers and better engage existing ones, and licensing agreements are important for this relationship.

Influencer marketing is changing and evolving as it gradually grows, with gaming brands and companies increasing their influencer budgets and many are bringing influencer marketing in-house and treating these professionals as marketing partners. And influencer contracts and licensing agreements are starting to resemble those for conventional talent for TV adverts or billboards.

A company that sells promotional products for the gaming industry recently lost its licensing agreement with a popular influencer. All products manufactured under this license agreement had to be destroyed. Products included clothing, accessories, toys, sports gear.

Shred Connect was responsible for reconciling returned stock and obsolete products with the client’s inventory list. Since it was necessary for the social media influencer to acknowledge the destruction, video was provided.

All services we provide come with peace of mind that all the waste, such as PPE, personal electronics, medical devices, mobile phones, children’s clothing, electric accessories, and police gear, are treated and disposed of responsibly, and all paperwork and documents are provided.
