Background. In 2008, a collection of professionals from the bulk paper and personal security industries came together to conceptually form an information destruction company. Shred Connect took a year to define its business plan, conducting research on shredding services in Southern California. We found that the residential and small-business sectors were ignored. Costs were inconsistent, jobs were hurried and customer service was lacking. Destruction of digital information seemed less important than the printed document.
